Links

Here are some of my favourite website.

Arts and Letters Daily collates excellent opinion pieces, essays and book reviews. Learned but topical.

The Guardian: Comment Is Free is a great source of opinion on religion, belief and philosophy. Andrew Brown often gets hammered in the discussion threads, but I think he’s usually on the money with this views.

Archbishop of Canterbury I think Rowan Williams is a (relatively) enlightened religious figure. Though I don’t support all his views, he writes with great passion and intellect, often personifying the reasoning of a former Archbishop, St Anslem, who said “For I do not seek to understand that I may believe, but I believe in order to understand. For this I believe – that unless I believe, I should not understand”.

Baltimore Ravens Access to sports other than those you’ve grown up with, is one of the supreme benefits of globalisation. NFL is a great game. I like the Ravens. A good coach, a great leader in Ray Lewis, all based in a tough town (well, it seems that way from The Wire). They should have edged The Pats for the 2011 AFC Championship.

Stanley Fish is a great social commentator - style and subject matter.

Christopher Hitchens This site collates most of his material. He was one of the wittiest, erudite writers in the world. He’s so good, I find it hard to believe he was an atheist.

Go Betweens This is an excellent site for one of my favourite bands.

Templeton Foundation This foundation cops a lot of criticism as a front for religious apology. I find a lot of its material interesting and free of dogma.

Brendan O’Neill is an honest, gritty opinion writer.

Reinvention Check this out if you need some “new age” help.

Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy A great reference site for wantabe philosophers

Love this song; love the film clip!
